The hold-up can sometimes be hectic and unbearable, with hawkers and touts obstructing free movement of vehicles on the road.
The overflow of vehicles has also made things more hectic in recent years, hence the need to decongest the ever-busy road became a topic of concern to citizens and visitors alike.
 The federal government awarded a contract for the construction of the Kundila bridge, which the Minister of Works, Mike Onolememen said would gulp N2.5bn and urged citizens to see the project as theirs.
Work on the flyover began months ago and was commended by many people as a way of easing traffic on the Kundila section of the road, which connects with other roads coming into the state from the South, North-Central and the North-East.
Completing the project, which is being handled by an indigenous construction firm, Rocad Construction, will solve much of the congestion and traffic build-up on the section of road, especially during the yuletide period.
The project was awarded after the Kano State government had started a similar but much larger bridge project in the state metropolis, which means that the Kundila bridge will play a complementary role in checking the menace of traffic congestion in the city.
 Residents of Gyadi-Gyadi are eager to see the completion of the project before next year’s rainy season. While praising the contractors for the speed of work, we feel compelled to point out that if the work is not completed before the next rainy season, we will go through hardship accessing our homes.
Similarly, we feel constrained to draw the attention of  the authorities concerned on the need to provide adequate security at the bridge after its completion so that criminals will not turn it into a hideout.
