For a long time now, Nigerians have continued to pay more for electricity due to estimated billing by power distribution companies. The development is due to the fact that many citizens are not metered.  

It is sad that despite the Federal Government’s directive that every consumer should be metered before the end of February, nothing has been done on the issue.  People are also being asked to pay for the meters which ordinarily should be free. Power is an important part of our daily lives and everything possible should be done to ensure that more people are connected. 

I, therefore, urge the Federal Fovernment to call the distribution companies to order and ensure that every home is provided with a meter. That will not only stop extortion but will also aid transparency in the payment of power consumed.
