FG presents 10 trucks of relief materials to victims of Numan, Demsa conflict

The Federal Government through the National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA) has presented 10 trucks of relief materials to Numan and Demsa communities that were affected by communal conflicts.

The development followed the recent assessment visit by the presidential quick intervention delegate to the affected villages.

The Director-General (DG) of NEMA, Alhaji Mustafa Maihaja , presented the items in Bolon village in Demsa Local Government Area of the state on Friday.

Maihaja represented by Mr Abbani Imam, the agency’s operations officer in charge of Adamawa and Taraba, said that the relief materials were suplied following the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari’s quick response to the affected communities.

“We are presenting the relief materials following the directive given by President Muhammadu Buhari for quick intervention and response.

“The items are not meant to compensate for what you lost but to at least bring succour to the affected families ” Maihaja said.

He said about 1,770 people were said to have been affected by the conflicts in Bolong,Barai and Daso villages in Numan and Demsa Local Government Areas.

He said the relief materials comprised of consumable and non-consumable items, building materials, and clothes.

Mr Robinson Filgona and Mr Jackson Karau ,the district head of Bolong and Head of administration at Demsa Local Government Area thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for the relief materials.

They said that the relief materials were the first of its kind distributed to the communities and assured the President that items would support the living conditions of their people.

They expressed their profound gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for showing sympathy to them and urged him to bring lasting solution to the crisis.

The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that on April 22 , 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari gave a directive for quick intervention response to the affected communities.

The quick intervention response delegate was led by Air Commodore Akube Iyawu, the Director in charge of Search and Rescue of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). ( NAN)
