FG procures insurance cover for civil servants

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan.

The federal government has said it procured insurance cover for civil servants taking effect from February 9, 2023 to February 8, 2024.

The Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HoSF), Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, who stated this yesterday in Abuja, said the government took the initiative to ensure that its employees are comprehensively provided with insurance cover.

She also said the government has cleared the backlog of death benefits for over 1,500 deceased officers to their beneficiaries from 2021 to date.

She said the payment was made to the next of kin of the deceased officers.

“What we refer to as backlog is that there were some periods from the time past where insurance cover was not provided for the civil servants. That means government did not pay insurance premiums for the civil servants for whatever reason but civil servants still die within that period and the law says to pay the next-of-kin of those people that died,” she said.
