FG records 3,124 beneficiaries of cash transfer in Edo

The Head of Unit, Household Uplifting Programme (HUP), Edo State Cash Transfer Unit, Mrs. Flora Bossey, has disclosed that 3,124 residents from Oredo local government of the state have benefitted from the federal government’s Conditional Cash Transfer programme.
She disclosed this in Benin at the weekend while addressing journalists after distributing debit cards to beneficiaries of the programme.
“Beneficiaries from Oredo Local Government of Edo State are here today to collect their debit cards as cash transactions have been stopped since last year. The 3,124 are part of the 12,108 beneficiaries under the Federal Government Conditional Cash Transfer programme across the state.
“Cash payment stopped in April last year as the process has been digitalized. Debit cards are being given to beneficiaries of the programme. For Edo, they are being paid 20 months’ arrears of their N5,000. The cards are pre-loaded with N100,000. The beneficiaries are here to collect their debit card.”

She said the state has continued to contribute towards the success of the programme, providing human resources and a conducive office environment for the programme.
