The Federal Government yesterday suspended a meeting with the newly reconstituted governing councils of some universities.
The Minister of Education Malam Adamu Adamu, who reconstituted the councils on Friday and appointed new Vice Chancellors for 12 universities, was scheduled to meet with the councils on Monday in his office. The meeting was said to have been suspended and neither reasons for the postponement was given nor was a new date issued.
A source at the ministry said the meeting could not hold yesterday as scheduled and no new date was announced.
Meanwhile, the chairperson of the reconstituted council of the Federal University Dutse, Najatu Mohammed, has refused to accept the position in a newspaper advertorial. “I can’t accept the appointment for personal reasons,” she said.
