FG targets N1trn revenue annually from NIPOST

The Federal Government is targeting N1 trillion revenue annually from the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), even as it plans to buy helicopters for the country’s postal agency, the Minister Communications Adebayo Shittu, has said.
Speaking while inaugurating the new Post Master General (PMG) in Abuja Friday, the minister said the copters would give NIPOST an edge over its local and international competitors and would also turn it to high revenue generating agency.
According to the minister, the current reform going on in NIPOST would enable it re-take the lost market and gain more ground in the courier and mail businesses.
“With a Stamp Duty Act in place and a motivated workforce, a reformed NIPOST should be able to meet N1trn revenue target every year”, the minister said.
The agency generated close to N5bn in far back as 2013, according to Shittu.
Earlier, the new PMG, Asiwaju Bisi Adegbuyi said he would work tirelessly to reposition NIPOST and take it to the next level.
