FG tasks indigenous engineers to drive nation`s infrastructural devt

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the Nigeria engineers to be at fore front of nation`s infrastructural development and economic diversification efforts. 

The president made the call on Saturday in Abuja at the investiture of Adekunle Olumuyiwa Mokuolu as the 31st President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).

Represented by the Minister of Science and Technology Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu  said that  the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) have proven to be a very useful partner of the present administration in its  onerous task to diversify the  economy and fix infrastructures.

  He commended the out gone NSE president Otis oliver Anyaeji for consolidating on the achievements of his predecessors as well as the remarkable achievements in helping to reposition the engineering profession in the overall task of nation`s building.

He  congratulated  the new president Adekunle Olumuyiwa  Mukuola for his  contribution  to the development of the nation, saying  the federal government will continue to work with the NSE for the purpose of sustainable and addressing issues of the country   in line with the  economic recovery and growth plan 2017-2020 of the country.  

He said:“We expect our engineers to be in the vanguard of the scientific technological renaissance that we have inaugurated through various policies with the intent  to serenade the development of our nation.  We belief very strongly that our engineers are well placed to assist in the realization of our   numerous  developmental   initiatives.”  

The president called on the engineers to utilize the enormous resources the country is endowed with to make the country an industrial hub that will bring new jobs and build a society of abundant wealth. “Nations can become great by utilizing science and technology. We challenge you as our professional to be the best you can so our nation can be fully great,” he said.
