The federal government will acquire modern monitoring equipment to enable the Ministry of Communications monitor the radio frequency spectrum effectively, the permanent secretary, Ministry of Communications, Arc. Sunny Echono, has said.
Arc Echono disclosed this in Abuja when he declared open a training organised by the ministry for its engineers responsible for the spectrum management and monitoring, a statement said yesterday.
Echono, according to the statement signed the ministry’s deputy director of press, Henshaw Ogubike, said the participants should take the training with all seriousness and acquire all the technicalities that are involved in maintaining and fixing of faults that occur on the installed solar system at stations in the country.
He said government is interested in knowing who uses the spectrum either for radio or communication in order to ensure that their licenses are properly issued and also more importantly the issue of security should not be taken with laxity as security is one of the challenges the country is facing, which through proper monitoring of the spectrum, could be curtailed, he added.
