FG to boost research

The Federal Government has been urged to invest more in research and development to increase productivity.
Executive Chairman, Muslim Public Affairs Center, Engineer Disu Kamor, who made the call in Ilorin at a media conference, said government should build relevant research infrastructure in schools to ensure improved competitiveness as well create employment.
He asked schools to pay attention to the provision of entrepreneurship skills while Nigerian scientists and engineers should be encouraged to set up industries.
Kamor also called on the youths to be industrious and shun all acts of crime.
In a related development, the secretary to Adamawa State government, Dr. Umar Bindir, has asked governments at all levels to allocate more resources to attain self-reliance.
He made the call during the 45th Convocation lecture of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in Kaduna.
“If you want to be creating jobs, to be respected and also start to be producing things, you have to recognize that knowledge is very important. It is knowledge that will push you to that level,” he said.
