Alhaji Usman Dunama, the chairman of the mobilization and sensitization committee for the international stock route development in the north. East stated this at a stakeholders meeting held in Damaturu, Yobe State at the weekend.
He said frequent skirmishes between farmers and grazers had remained a major problem for government as well as many families who usually recorded grave casualties with human and material losses to both farmers and grazers across the region.
“The development of the routes will cover survey, establishment of concrete monuments, mapping, gazetting and digitisation of map data,” he said.
He said federal, state and the affected local government areas had a vital role to play in establishing the routes.
Part of the facilities to be provided, according to him, included resting points equipped with veterinary clinics, feed stores, boreholes, water troughs and reticulation provided within an interval of every 150 kilometres along the routes.
