FG to empower 200, 000 with CCT in Gombe

Thousands of the less privileged across the eleven local Government Areas of Gombe state will soon benefit from the Federal Government’s initiative of Renewed Hope/ Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT).

The unit head of CCT in the state, Comrade Abubakar Jatau stated this on Tuesday at a one-day step-down training for local government cash transfer officers, facilitators, desk officers, and local government redressed officers on Renewed Hope and CCT Orientation and Beneficiary Enrolment Process in Gombe.

He revealed that a pre-training program has been arranged for 11 desk officers who will coordinate cash transfer activities in the local governments, and eleven local government redressed officers who will be in charge of all grievances of beneficiaries and stakeholders if the need arises, and 134 cash transfer facilitators.

Our correspondent reported that there were no fewer than 156 attendees during the pre-training.

Jatau, however, applauded the FG for creating what he described as “One of the best initiatives that would easily reach out to the vulnerable in the society smoothly without any hitch as was the case before the introduction of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government, pointing out that, the program is sponsored by the Federal Government in collaboration with the World Bank.”

He added that no less privileged Nigerian would miss out on the empowerment scheme once the exercises commence anytime soon.

He then called on all the forthcoming beneficiaries and communities across the state to be sincere in allotting the actual names of the vulnerable among them to authenticate deserving ones before dispatching their list to their head of unit.

It was learned that over 200, 000 of the less privileged may benefit from the N25,000 monthly FG’s empowerment scheme in the state for three months at a stretch in the first Phase of the disbursement before the next batch of the beneficiaries.
