The federal government has promised to create enabling environment that will bring peace and expand development in kogi state.

President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu disclosed this in Lokoja on Monday during the decamping ceremony of some chieftains of People Democratic party (PDP) to All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state .

The defected PDP chieftains, include, ex governor Idris Wada, Ranti Sam Abenemi, Deputy governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party ( SDP) in 2023 election , RH.Alfa Immam, the former speaker of kogi state House of Assembly, Hon .Bode Ogumola , representing Ogori-Magogo state Constituency, and a PDP party leader, Idowu Ibikunle ,among others .

The president who was represented by his vice, Senator Shettima Kashim said the progressives have gathered in state that is a perfect metaphor of where two great rivers, Niger and Benue meet to proffer solution for the progress of the nation .

He described the defectors as respecters of history who have come to join hands with the progressives to enhance the peace and harmony of the state and the country at large .

The president added that his administration is commited to enthrone consistency to the nation , stressing that the occasion reflect his avowed stand of build a sold political institution across the nation that will take the country to the next level of its greatness .

He enjoined the party members to absorb the defectors and rise above sentiments , describing their defection as no victory to anybody, but a commitment to rise and pursue national scheme together for the interest of all.

“It’s an alignment of national building; it’s an alignment to face national challenge before us . We respect you (wada) as an elder and a partner to solve national challenge collectively. We shall ensure peace and expand development in kogi “, he said.

Earlier, in his remarks, the kogi state governor, Usman Ahmed Ododo said the party is no longer concern on how to win an election but the idea to tend to the state and country for improved standard of living .

He said his administration is commited to the Hope Agenda scheme of president Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reposition the state where peace reigns, economic activities booms and standard of citizens improves.

“We are not making noise ,but making impact .I will rather remains a silent achiever ,rather than making noise. I have a mission to make kogi great, fight poverty , create a peaceful coexistence, provide portable water and quality health care for the citizens.

“When they are making noise , tell them that we are busy working to reposition the state and raise the standard of living of our people”, he said .

He urged the party members to receive the defectors with one heart , stressing that there is no old and new members in the progressive party .

Speaking on the of the defectors , ex governor, Idris Wada said the reasons for their defecting to APC were numerous, attributing to the removal of fuel subsidy stabilising naira value, among others .

He said the progressive party is leading the country in the right direction, stressing that the defectors will melt into party and bring progress to the nation.

“President Ahmed Bola Tinubu was bold enough to remove fuel subsidy . Initially, we feel the pains ,but things are improving currently”, he said .
