FG to inaugurate 12-man Committee on Coronavirus Tuesday

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman, Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha

The Federal Government will on Tuesday, in Abuja, inaugurate a 12-man Presidential Task Force for the control of Coronavirus (Covid-19).

The inauguration, which will be done at the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) conference hall, is also having the SGF Boss Mustapha at the Chairman of the committee, while Dr. Sani Aliyu, a former Director-General, National Agency for Control of AIDS (NACA), is the National Coordinator.

This is contained in a bulletin released from the SGF Office on Monday in Abuja.

Other members of the committee are Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire; Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola; Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika; Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Services, Sadiya Umar Farouq and Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.

Others are Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; Minister of Environment, Sharon Ikeazor; DG SSS, Yusuf Magaji Bichi; DG Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Chikwe Ihekweazu; and World Health Organisation (WHO) country Representative.

The Coronavirus outbreak commenced in December 2019 in Wuhan, China and has been declared a pandemic by the WHO.

According to the worldometers live update info on coronavirus, there were 181,290 cases of infections; 7,128 deaths; 78,328 recovered; 95,834 active cases and currently infected patients; 89,672 in mild condition; 6,162 serious or in critical conditions; while 78,328 had recovered or discharged as at Monday night.
