The newly appointed Executive Director of the Nigeria Integrated Water Resources Management Commission, Dr. Abdulmumin Aminu Zaria, has pledged to focus on providing water to local communities.

Speaking yesterday in Abuja as he took over the leadership of the commission, he stated that this would be prioritized even before addressing industrial or commercial water access.

He emphasized that human dignity must be protected at all costs and that water is crucial for that protection.

He also promised to lead a public awareness campaign for the commission’s bill, which is currently pending before the National Assembly.

The new Executive Director vowed to run an open-door policy to ensure the equitable management of the nation’s water resources.

Earlier, during the handover, the commission’s Acting Executive Secretary, Sakinatu Abbo Jimeta, promised the new director the full cooperation and support of all management and staff.

Our correspondent reports that the new director held a private meeting with the commission’s management shortly after assuming his role.
