The registrar of the board, Alhaji Babagana Mustapha, disclosed this in Abuja during a stakeholders retreat for professionals teaching in schools of health information management and colleges of health technologies.

The theme of the retreat was ‘Health Information Management Training at 21st Century; Challenges and Way Forward’.
Mustapha said emphasis would be placed on 21st century health information management practices in the curriculum review.
He lamented that there was a serious drop in the training standards and quality of graduates from health information management institutions in recent times.
He said the Board had partnered with Kaduna Polytechnic to establish a health information management tutor training programme similar to that of the nursing and community health tutors.
The chairman of the Board, Ibrahim Jibrin Sokoto, said the outcome of the retreat would help to revitalise health records and information systems in Nigeria.
