The federal government will soon set up emergency clinics in the 774 local governments areas in the country.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, disclosed this in Benin during a sensitization programme to mark World Health Organization (WHO) Day 2021
He said the plan would bring healthcare delivery closer to the people at the grassroots, adding that the clinics would be fully equipped.
According to him, the measure would reduce the healthcare burden on tertiary and secondary facilities being experienced in the country.
He explained that ambulances and medical personnel would be provided at the clinic to meet the health needs of Nigerians.
He also revealed that the annual World Health Day ceremony will henceforth be rotational across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Earlier, Governor Godwin Obaseki said his administration is working hard to reposition the health sector in the state.
Obaseki, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Irowa Osamwonyi, said the various Primary Healthcare (PHC) Centres in the state have witnessed a turnaround under the current administration.
