The Federal Government will strengthen relationship with France on space technology to tackle security challenges in the country, the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnya Onu, has said.
The minister stated this when the France Ambassador to Nigeria, Denys Gauer, paid a courtesy call on him in Abuja to propose for the negotiation and signing of cooperation on space activities.
Dr. Onu disclosed that science and technology is a major focus of this administration’s commitment to make positive impact on the people of Nigeria.
Earlier, the France Ambassador to Nigeria, Denys Gauer, said that the visit is to prepare ground for negotiation and the signing of cooperation in space activities. Mr Gauer noted that French government is committed to developing space activities in developing countries.
The Ambassador also disclosed that the French President is scheduled to visit Nigeria this month for regional summit which is expected to bring out ideas on how to improve security, space and satellite activities to all the stakeholders
The submit, according to the Ambassador, is expected to provide the framework for activities like training and exchange of ideas
