The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment has trained 118 in the six States of Northeast through the nationwide youth training on vocational skills and trades to address unemployment.

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr. Festus Keyamo, who flagged off the exercise in Bauchi, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Tarfa Peter, explained that one of the solutions to the civil unrest in the country is to encourage youths to be gainfully employed.

He said the vocational centre will run four sessions and the graduates will get starter-packs. “I encourage all the participants in this training that the road towards economic emancipation starts with your personal determination to succeed. The Zonal Director of the ministry, Amos Johnson said out of the 118 participants, Bauchi has 29, Gombe has 20, Adamawa has 20, Borno has 14, Taraba has 19 and Yobe has 16 participants.

Johnson, who also oversees the Bauchi Vocational Centre, said the skills include cosmetology, bricklaying and masonry, tailoring and dress making, hair dressing, among others.
