Addressing the teachers in Abuja at the opening ceremony of the training, the SSAP, Dr. Baraka Sani, said the success of the pilot programme would hugely depend on the dedication and efficiency of the teachers.
She said: “We are going to reward you with something precious that money cannot buy. Apart from giving you allowances for the volunteering job, you will be offered training in Nigeria and abroad when the opportunity arises.”
Last Monday, the participants who are teachers of Agricultural Science in their schools met with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Aso Rock Villa during the formal launch of the programme.
Dr Baraka explained that the train-the-trainers participants will be taught agricultural enterprise including book keeping, business planning, among others. They will in turn teach their students who volunteer to be in schools’ agric clubs.
