The Permanent Secretary, Special Duties Office (SDO), Office of the Secretary to Government of the Federation (OSGF), Engr. Festus Daudu, has appeal to workers of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) to sheath their swords and re-open the offices locked up on 21 May, 2019 across the country.

He made this appeal after series of negotiations with the national leadership of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), NLRC local chapter of the union, the Board Members, Management of the NLRC and the SDO being the supervising agency.

He promised to ensure that all agreements reached will be implemented to the letter in addition to ensuring that a good cordial working relationship exists between staff, the union and management of the commission.

Spokesperson of the SDO, Mrs. Julie Osagie Jacobs, quoted the Permanent Secretary as saying that efforts will be made to turn the commission around to achieve the mandate on which it was established as the commission is a goldmine that can fund some aspects of the national budget if properly positioned to generate revenue.

Also, the Chairman of the Board of NLRC, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, assured staff and the executives of the union that agreements reached will be implemented to the letter.

After extensive deliberation on the issues that led to the industrial action embarked upon by the workers of the commission, the joint meeting issued an eleven-point communiqué addressing wrongful employment of a specific officer, refusal of the Director General of the Commission, Mr. Lanre Gbajabiamila to sign collective agreements, payments of DTA, condition of Service, use of Security Agency for Staff audit, promotion exercises, compensation for staff injured while on duty and CCTV installation in offices, amongst many others.

The meeting also agreed that no staff will be victimized either directly or indirectly by the commission as a result of his/her participation in the industrial action.

After signing the agreement, the meeting consented to suspend the industrial action.

Mr. Lanre Gbajabiamila the Executive Secretary of the Commission was out of the country as at the time the staff and union embarked on the strike action.
