The federal government has been urged to adopt new strategies in dealing with the issue of insecurity in the country.
This followed the persisted killing of innocent Nigerians by bandits, Boko Haram insurgents and abduction of innocent Nigerians across the country.
Addressing newsmen at the end of their meeting in Abuja yesterday, the Acting Secretary of Growth & Development of Northern Nigeria (GDNN), Haruna Buhari, said, “If the subsisting ‘solution’ does not bring about the desired outcome, other options available may need to be explored if truly we mean to eradicate the menace totally and not trying the same failed ‘solution.”
He said, “We are disturbed that the security situation in the country is indeed not improving. We urge the National Security Adviser, the federal government to please, engage genuinely ‘friendly countries’ that have the technological capabilities in assisting us bring this challenge to complete eradication.”

Haruna Buhari also called on the 19 state governors in the north to “Negotiate governance conditions of the current FCT that must give preferential treatment to citizens of Niger, Kogi, Nasarawa and Kaduna states that contributed their territories into what is the FCT of today.”
He also urged governors of the 19 northern states and federal lawmakers from the northern region to step up their game in protecting and promoting the interest of the zone, especially on issues of governance.
