The Convener of the Unstoppable Women Conference, Ijeoma Igbaji has urged the federal government to provide an enabling environment for women to thrive.
Igbaji made the appeal at the weekend in Abuja while speaking on the sidelines of the 2023 Unstoppable Women Conference.
While stating that women should be encouraged and not side-lined, she urged the government to make it easy for females to get involved in politics to increase the percentage of women participation in the political space.
“We are not asking the government to give us political positions, but the truth is that there are capable women. They are available but they are not being noticed. We just want the government to create an enabling environment for women to thrive.
“If there is an enabling environment for women to handle child care and other women’s things, more females would be able to take up leadership positions without being worried about what will happen to what they are leaving behind,” she said.
According to her, the conference was organized for women to network in order to add value to the society.
She said: “The program was put together for women to come and be impacted and to also network with other like minded women and to have a bit of fun because I notice that because of the current economic realities a lot of women are giving up, they are shutting down their business”
Soluchy Agu, a talent specialist/performance coach, while speaking urged entrepreneurs to always add value to whatever they find themselves doing, saying, “it will make you more successful”.
