The federal government has been urged to partner with real estate companies in order to tackle the challenge of housing deficit in the country.
The technical and business development manager of Dominion Onward Estate and Property, Mr Collins Michael, made the call while addressing journalists in Abuja at the weekend.
He said the government should also subsidize building cost for developers and provide real estate companies with the platform to help ordinary Nigerians own homes.
“That is why we have proposed some ideas to the government. We are talking to the government, and we believe the government of the day is moving in that direction,” Michael stated.
He said his company’s image earned the Africa Quality Real Estate Developers Award given it on Friday by the Institute for Government Research and Leadership Technology, West Africa.
“Integrity matters in this business, and you cannot have stories of collapsed buildings or high priced buildings. We’ve high quality and low cost houses. We’re taking a quality lead in infrastructure development. Right now, we’re leaving Lagos shore to Abuja. We already have a place in Port Harcourt which is going to be a world-class system. The idea here is to meet up with the Vision 20:2020 on real estate development,” he said.
