The Chief Executive Officer of Etisalat Nigeria, Mathew Willsher, made the call in Lagos at the presentation of cheques to the winners of the 2014 and the 4th edition of Etisalat Pan Africa Prize of Innovations.
According to him, there was tremendous change across Africa in the way people use applications on mobile networks.
ýHe said: “The Etisalat prize of pan-Africa innovation award was launched in recognition of playing a part in catalysing innovations and we want to promote creativity across Africa not just in Nigeria. The benefit is that as a telecommunication company, we do really believe that the Telco is a critical part of a country in terms of it economy and social life.”
Willsher, who charged future winners of the award to come with innovative apps that can help in traffic management, said Etisalat Nigeria had in 2012 launched the Prize of Innovation award to spur encouragement in creativity.
He said Etisalat has grown to have 20million subscribers in its 6years of operations in Nigeria, adding the array of quality and innovative products and the way the Telco interact with its customers were responsible for its success.
