National President of the Science Association of Nigeria (SAN) Professor Isiaka Amoo has urged the Federal Government to pay greater attention to science education at the various tiers of schools in the country.
Prof Amoo made the call in Sokoto at the 53rd Annual National Conference of the association.
“This is very, very important because technology is applied science. Meaning that no science no technology and then no development,” he said.
A former minister of Health, Dr Khaliru Alhassan, also called for improved funding for research and development in universities to provide plausible solutions to most of problems plaguing Nigeria.
He pointed out that researches into abundant plants in the country would provide solutions to health issues such as sickle cell, malaria and cancer, among others.
