The partnership between the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, National Water Resources Institute, Kaduna and six Nigerian universities for the improvement of skills of water sector officials in the country is yielding fruitful results.
The Executive Director of National Water Resources Institute, Kaduna, Dr. Emmanuel Adanu, made the observation during an advocacy visit to the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, to discuss issues regarding capacity building in the water sector.
Dr. Adanu, represented by the Director Research and Technical Services of the institution, Dr. Dogara Bashir, said that Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed recently between the universities and the ministry to advance the knowledge of the water sector officials on the new technologies that would improve the development of the sector.
He said that the MOU which was signed, the “National Water Resources Capacity Building Network” (NWRCBNet), has bridged human capacity and skill gaps in the sector.
He further explained that, apart from capacity development, the networks have served as platforms for sharing information and exchange of ideas among the partnering universities toward improving the management of the sector.
