The Minister of Health, Professor Christian Onyebuchi Chukwu, noted that government’s priority is to ensure that health is made the centre of government’s 2015 development agenda with the MDG’s coming to an end that year.
The minister, who was represented by the director family health, Dr Balami Wapada, at the WHO Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS) stakeholders meeting, said that the country is also committed to achieving Universal Health coverage (UHC) in the interest of Nigeria.
He said, “As you are aware, Mr. President has already approved a presidential summit on UHC to be convened in March 2014, which is a demonstration of our commitment to this initiative.
“It is hoped that this will drive the health system to ensure that all Nigerians have access to the health care they need regardless of their social or economic status.”
