The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) said it is conducting an official investigation into allegations against one Mr. Jatto, a teacher at Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Benin City over allegation of sexual harassment.
It said a thorough review has established that the case in question is not one of sexual harassment but an issue of high-handedness in classroom management, which was initially misrepresented.
This is coming after a woman called out the teacher on a social media platform.
The Director, Press and Public Relations at FME, Boriowo Folasade in a statement on Thursday said earlier on, an investigative panel set up by the school has already submitted its
report.
“The Preliminary findings indicate that Mr. Jatto was on prep supervision duty at the time of the incident and was responding to a rowdy classroom situation,” she said.
Meanwhile, the principal has been summoned to the Ministry Headquarters in Abuja for further clarification.
While niting that investigation is on going in respect of the allegations, she said the Ministry urges the public to exercise patience until the final investigation is concluded.
Adding that the final findings of the investigation will be officially announced in due course.
The Ministry, she said, remains committed to transparency and upholding the integrity of educational institutions across the country.
