One of newly approved Skill Training Centre, by the Federal Government aimed at equipping individuals with practical, job-ready skills for a brighter future under it’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme has been unveiled in Abuja.

The centre, Ladela Educational Institute (Ladela Schools), in Apo, Abuja, aims to equip Nigerians with practical skills, enhance employability, self-reliance and promote economic growth.

The government noted that by investing in TVET, it seeks to address unemployment, foster entrepreneurship, and bridge the skills gap in the country.

Adding that each participants will be getting a monthly stipend of N22,500, certificates and a starter kit.

Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja at the official opening of the Institute as an accredited skill training centre for the programme, Executive Director of the Institute, Angela Ajala, said upon completing six months of training, each participant would receive a starter pack to kick-start their career or business, courtesy of the Federal Government.

The programme is organised in partnership with the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) with accredited centres cutting across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to Ajala, participants at the Institute would be trained in five areas including fashion design and garment making, solar installation and maintenance, social media communications, hospitality and catering training, creative media (media digital production).

“This initiative is a powerful investment in the people of Nigeria, and it is a clear recognition that the future of our nation lies in what our hands can build, what our minds can create and what our hearts can dare to pursue through this fully funded tuition free initiative,” she said.

“We are opening our doors to every Nigerian willing to learn, willing to upskill and willing to chart a new path. There is an opportunity for everyone at the Ladela Educational Institute.

“Our programmes are delivered by industry professionals, ensuring every participant leaves this institute, not just with knowledge, but with access to industry players, with confidence, with competence and a clear path forward.”

She further said the training is open to every Nigerian youth willing to acquire a skill and be self employed/empowered.

Also speaking, Deputy Director at NBTE, Pauline Ajibili, said the programme is for youth between the ages of 18 and 35 years, adding that trainees would receive employable certificates that would enhance their chances of securing jobs or starting their own businesses.

She urged interested Nigerians to visit the NBTE portal to register for the programme, noting that all accredited skill centres are listed on its website.

The monthly stipend, she pointed out, is to cover for transportation.
