The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) on Tuesday commissioned its Express View Estate 1 and complex in the Lugbe area of Abuja, with a pledge to deliver more housing projects across the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, FHA Managing Director and Chief Executive, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, said the project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes completion of inherited housing projects to expand access to affordable homes.

“On assumption of office about 17 months ago, our management hinged our agenda on the Renewed Hope mantra, which is centered on provision of affordable and livable houses to Nigerians,” Ojo said.

He explained that the Authority adopted a phased approach to project completion to fast-track delivery rather than wait for entire projects to be finalized. This method, he noted, was successfully applied in the 100 housing units commissioned last month in Ajoda, Ibadan.

The newly commissioned Express View Estate comprises 50 units of terraces and flats, with a total of 100 units expected upon full completion. Ojo also highlighted measures to enhance affordability, including offering carcass or semi-finished housing options in upcoming projects.

He added that FHA is leveraging digitalization to provide seamless services and safeguard allottees’ property rights. “The Authority will be commissioning more projects in the coming weeks,” he assured.

Representing the Honourable Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Marcus Belgore, commended FHA for the quality of delivery. He affirmed that the Renewed Hope Housing Programme of President Tinubu “is real” and called for stronger collaboration between FHA, the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), and private developers to bridge the nation’s housing deficit.

The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Housing and Habitat, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin; Managing Director of FMBN, Shehu Usman Osidi; Director General of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Prof. Ayo Omotayo; and Chairman of IRS Airline, Alhaji Isyaka Rabiu.
