The Managing Director, Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Professor Mohammed Al-Amin has said the authority will partner with Turkish companies to facilitate the realisation of the federal government’s housing development target.
Al-Amin, said this at the weekend during a visit to the Turkish Embassy in Abuja, saying the visit was a follow-up to the recent visit to President Muhammadu Buhari by Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.
According to him, housing featured prominently in the discussion between the two presidents on areas of possible economic cooperation between the two nations during the visit.
He said the federal government proposed to build one million housing units yearly as a way of combating Nigerian’s estimated 17 million housing deficit, in addition he said according to the plan it was envisaged that the federal and state governments would build 250, 000 housing units each while the balance of 500, 000 would be taken up by domestic and foreign investors.
AL-Amin added that the federal government had matched words with action by allocating N44 billion in its budget to take care of its own commitment which would consist solely of social housing units.
He enjoined the Commercial Counselor, Dr Ahmed Zafer Gulsen who received him, to encourage Turkish companies to partner with the FHA through mass production of building materials, contribution of construction finance and technical expertise and housing construction.
Responding, Dr Gulsen promised to send the request to Turkish Ministry of Economy which he said would seek out the appropriate companies to partner with the authority.
