The Borno State Government, in collaboration with the Family Homes Funds Limited (FHFL), has completed 300 housing units for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Ngamdu town in Kaga LGA.
In a statement, FHFL said the buildings were part of over 3,000 houses to be built in the state; each costing below N2m.
Speaking during the commissioning, the Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Zulum, stated that the buildings would house 3,200 families who had had to contend with the challenge of being displaced and living in makeshift tents.
Prof Zulum explained that the partnership with FHFL had had a huge impact towards restoring life back to several communities in the state.
He said, “On our part, we shall ensure that the remaining homes are completed within the next year and are allocated to the most vulnerable people in our state. We also look forward to more of this partnership, especially through the social housing programme that is being implemented by the Family Homes Funds throughout the country.”
The Managing Director of FHFL, Femi Adewole, said the homes reiterated its policy to improve the lives of the most vulnerable people in the country.
He explained that Family Homes Funds was focused on its responsibility of delivering on the federal government’s agenda of ensuring that millions of Nigerians living in “unacceptable housing conditions not only have access to safe, decent and affordable homes but sustainable jobs too.”
