The residents were sensitized  in English language,  pidgin English and Hausa while a member of the community translated  in Gbagi, the language spoken by indigenes of the community.
The sensitization was carried out in the palace of the Esu (traditional ruler) of Bwari, Mr Ibrahim Taro who had earlier on mobilized the various communities within his domain for the event.
Chairperson of FIDA Nigeria, Abuja Branch, Mrs Amina Suzanah Agbaje, said it was important to create awareness on the urgent need to eradicate all forms of violence.
She said the community sensitization was carried out in order to mobilize and expose people from the grassroots to information on the bill and ensuring increased awareness on issues surrounding violence against persons.
In her presentation Assistant Public Relations Officer of the association, Mrs Chioma Onyenucheya-Uko  said the bill seeks to reduce gender based violence in the Nigerian society to the barest minimum particularly in homes, public spaces and conflict situations.
She said it addresses gaps in current laws, takes into cognisance  emerging trends of violence, protects both men and women and provides for compensation of victims of violence.
Wife of the Esu who represented her husband at the event thanked FIDA Abuja for the enlightenment  saying it has afforded members of the community to know about the bill, understand it and also demand their rights when the need arose.
She said a day before the association’s arrival , a 21 year old man had raped a five year old girl and it had generated dust in the community.
