The Super Eagles have ended a rather difficult 2020 during which they failed to win a match as the 35th best team in the world along with Morocco.
According to the latest FIFA Rankings released yesterday, the three-time African champions recorded a total of 1474 points in the outgoing year, same with the Atlas Lions of Morocco.
They are now ranked fourth in Africa with Senegal the best ranked team at 20th in the world.
The Super Eagles had moved down three places from 32nd in October to rank 35th in the FIFA ranking released in November.
In a year ravaged by the Coronavirus Pandemic, Nigeria drew three matches and lost once.
They drew 4-4 and then 0-0 with Sierra Leone in AFCON qualifiers in November after they lost 1-0 to African champions Algeria and then drew 1-1 with Tunisia in friendly matches in Austria in October.
They will again be back in action in March 2021 during which time they are expected to book their passage to the AFCON to be staged in Cameroon in 2022.
Elsewhere, the top six in the global rankings went unchanged with Belgium leading the way followed by France, Brazil, England, Portugal and Spain in that order.
