He therefore said the only thing that can save Nigeria from another football disaster is adequate preparation of the cadet team.

Laloko, also proprietor of the Football College in Orile-Imo, Ogun, noted that the draws did not favour Nigeria, especially with the presence of Argentina and Germany in the group.

“The teams that qualified for this championship are tough sides; we are unlucky with the draws. We must prepare well,’’ said the former coach of the Gambian national team. He said there was the need to be proactive in preparing the Golden Eaglets to ensure that Nigeria retained the title they won two years ago in Seoul, Korea Republic.

Laloko who spoke with the Nes Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on phone yesterday also noted that his invitation to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to send the Golden Eaglets to a Pepsi International-organised tournament was ignored

He claimed that he gave the NFF two slots in the tournament more than two weeks ago to prepare the Golden Eaglets for the Under-17 World Cup.

Laloko, who spoke against the backdrop of the draws for the Under-17 World Cup held on Friday in Abuja, wondered what programmes the NFF had for the Eaglets.

Laloko, Director of the Pepsi Football Academy, said he offered to assist the team because of their problems with coaching with two coaches already sacked.
