Fifth Chukker Polo & Country Club Kaduna has announced its tournament calendar for the 2026 season as the club prepares to host and participate in a series of tournaments at home and abroad.

According to a release made available to the media, the 2026 polo season will gallop off next month with the prestigious Access Bank UNICEF Charity Shield tournament billed for the lawns of the Kangimi Resort in Kaduna from May 30, 2026.

The international polo fiesta that over the decades has been alleviating the plight of orphans and vulnerable children across the northern part of Nigeria, offers three major prizes, the Charity Shield, Access Bank Cup and Usman Dantata Cup respectively.

Teams contesting for the highly revered laurels are expected to contribute entry fees ranging from N3.5 million to N5million as part of their contributions to the purse of the fund-raising polo tournament whose entire revenue benefit the educational pursuits of the children

The Charity Shield that raises fund annually from sponsors, partners and well spirited members of the public in support of UNICEF campaigns in aid of the less privilege and vulnerable children in Kaduna State and its environs, is expected to climax in June 7, 2026.

The next event listed in the 2026 calendar is the European leg of the charity event, the Access Bank Polo Day billed for the United Kingdoms on July 4th,2026.

The one-day fiesta that featured top ranking personalities and professionals from across the world, is scheduled for the Guards Polo Club in the UK.

From October 27- November 1, 2026 the Kangimi Resort will play host to the best of Nigerian and African polo patrons alongside foreign professional players for this year’s Emir of Zazzau African Patrons Cup polo tournament.

The week-long tournament is named after His Royal Highness the Emir of Zaria, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli in recognition of his support for the noble game.

It also supports an awareness campaign against the dreaded breast cancer pandemic among women through its Pink Polo component that runs side by side with the Patrons Cup showdown.

Fresh from the continental polo extravaganza, Fifth Chukker has announced a new addition to its tournament profile, the Women Polo Tournament from November 4-8, 2026 that will be held as a stand-alone event after years of being staged alongside the African Patrons fiesta.

One other foreign tournament will see Fifth Chukker travel to Southern America from November10 to December 15, 2026 for the Argentina Polo Experience, before returning to Nigeria for days of back-to-back Christmas Friendly polo tournaments from December 26-28, 2026.

 Apart from their annual calendar, Fifth Chukker polo teams also participate and compete for honours in other major local tournaments in Kaduna, Lagos, Kano, Jos, and Keffi Pony tournament in Keffi, Nasarawa State.

Last year, the calendar was more robust with the trip to South Africa for the Access Bank Polo Day, the Children Day Celebration event and a special tournament on October 1, to mark the Independence Day Anniversary in a series of activities with the noble game of king at the center stage.
