Before that heinous abduction, some boys were killed in their hostels in Buni Yadi in a gruesome manner. Every time I think of those boys and the manner of their death I die inside me. Nigeria is certainly on fire and people are living in fear.
However, I am happy that Nigerians are united in coming out strong against terrorism.  I wish that Nigerians will put in the same zeal and patriotism used in calling for the release of our girls in the “BringBackOurGirls” campaign to the problem of corruption in Nigeria. Corruption without doubt remains a social monster that is destroying our society. It is the fundamental problem. It is the reason for the bad roads, why our children are not in school, and why majority of its citizens are poor in the midst of plenty. If we can fix corruption, the problem of our country would have been solved.
Today, there are insinuations that money meant for military operations have been siphoned or how else does one explain a situation where the soldiers fighting for the unity of Nigeria are reported to be ill-equipped? I read and heard of calls by well-meaning Nigerians for the probe of fund disbursed to the military. I am one of those who support that probe. Nigerians demand the audit of the military.
Terrorism has suddenly come upon Nigeria as a plague. It is partly because we have failed in the past to deal with the corrupt elements in our society. Some of those who looted our commonwealth are behind those financing these monsters. It is hard to see those who will channel their hard-earned money into terrorist financing. Nigerians must hit the streets in protest against those who looted our treasury and compel government to investigate the perpetrators of this evil. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other anti-corruption agencies should also to work hard to trace the financiers of terrorism in our land.
