Speaking to Feverpitch yesterday, the Kano Pillars defender said there is no cause for the home lads to panic because the foreign pros are their brothers and they also started as home based professionals before moving abroad.

He said they will continue to fight for positions in the team because the coaches have made it clear that there is no automatic shirt for any player.

Idris however agreed that it is going to be entirely a different ball game because everyone will like to impress to be given a look in by the coaches.

“Well the foreign pros will be coming to join us but we are not going to put ourselves under any kind of pressure. We shall continue with what we have been doing. For most of us this is the kind of opportunity we asked for and now that it is here, we are going to grab it with two hands.

“My confidence also stems from the fact that our coaches have made it clear that there is no automatic shirt for anyone. The era of using home based players as training materials has ended”, he observed.

Idris reiterated that Home based Eagles would give the foreign players a good run for their money as far as the fight for shirts in the team is concerned.

“It is going to be serious fight for shirts but we are ready for the challenges. We have respect for our bigger brothers but we would not allow them to stroll in and displace us without a fight”, he said.
