Speaking to our reporter on the planned documentary, Managing Director of Mandawari Enterprises Nigeria Limited, Ibrahim Mohammed Mandawari, said the idea was born out of the ineffaceable mark the late actress made in the Hausa film industry.

Mandawari said the documentary will go a long way in preserving her history and the great contributions she made to the development of the Hausa film industry and filmmaking in general.

 “Hauwa has left an indelible mark in filmmaking and therefore she deserves to be honoured. We also conceived the idea considering that Hauwa died, not living behind a husband or a child by which people could remember her. So we feel this is the best way we could preserve her memories,” he said.

He also revealed plans to air the documentary on the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) and Africa Independent Television (AIT), adding that the documentary will be produced in both Hausa and English languages to give it more relevance in the country and beyond.

 Mandawari further said the documentary will be launched and the funds to be realized will be invested in establishing a foundation in her name. The foundation, he said, will serve as a training centre for filmmakers when realized.

It will be recalled that late Biba Problem died in a motor accident at Sami Naka town, along Jos/Kano road Friday, 1st January 2010. She was one of the pioneer film stars in Kano and featured in popular Hausa films like Ki Yarda Dani, Daskindaridi, Sangaya, Na Gari and  Dijengala among many others.
