The Chief Press Secretary to Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, has dismissed claims in some quarters that the governor was planning to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stressing that Fintiri remains a committed member of the party.
Speaking during a media parley in Yola at the weekend, Wonosikou said the governor is focused on delivering on his assignment as chairman of the PDP National Convention Committee and has no plans to defect to any other political party.
“His Excellency Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri remains a bona fide member of the PDP. He is not leaving,” Wonosikou said.
Daily Trust reports that the PDP is hit by a wave of defections of its bigwigs to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The defection of the Delta State governor, Sheriff Oborevwori from the PDP to the APC is the latest in the series of defections of opposition members to the ruling party.
Oborevwori defected to the APC with a former governor of Delta State and presidential running mate to Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 poll, Ifeanyi Okowa and the entire structure of the PDP in Delta State.
Receiving the defectors, the APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, said the party would receive more governors from the PDP.
The media interaction, which brought together journalists and government media aides, served as a platform to review the achievements of Governor Fintiri’s administration in the first quarter of 2025.
