Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s interventions over the past two years (2023–2025) have had a transformative impact on the economic, social, and commercial life of the people of Adamawa State. The effects are visible across multiple sectors and have been widely recognized for contributing to sustainable development and improved quality of life.

Economic Impact:

Job Creation

Infrastructure projects such as road construction, urban renewal (flyovers, shopping complexes), and market development have generated thousands of direct and indirect jobs. Over 40,000 direct and indirect jobs created through construction, education, healthcare, and agriculture initiatives.

Youth and Women Empowerment Programs have provided grants and vocational training, promoting self-employment and reducing dependency.
Improved Business Environment
Development of modern shopping complexes and markets (e.g., ₦19.7 billion Jimeta Ultra-Modern Market) has provided structured, secure environments for trade. Revamped transport infrastructure has reduced logistics costs, improved market access, and increased local commerce.

Social Impact

✅Access to Quality Healthcare
There has been serious investments in Yola Specialist Hospital (e.g., installation of CT scan machines and a modern laboratory) that drastically improved access to diagnostics and treatment. The rural areas are also not untouched with upgrades and staffing of hospitals in rural and semi-urban areas which broadened healthcare access.

In the area of staff, over 2,000 health professionals were recruited and trained to provide improved service delivery across rural and urban areas. This has dirctly led to the current signs of improvement of public health indicators (e.g., maternal and child care) due to better facility access.

Education and Human Capital

Fintiri has continued supporting free education, with investments in schools, renovations, and provision of instructional materials. Recruitment of teachers has improved service delivery and reduced unemployment. Massive renovations and equipping of secondary schools and technical colleges have increased enrollment and retention. Also new schools are coming up like the Model Schools constructed in all the 21 Local Councils and the Mega Secondary Schools in the Senatorial Zones.

Digital learning tools and teacher training programs have improved quality of instruction. The youth are also brought into the loop through ICT and entrepreneurship hubs which is bringing out their innovative skills and fostering innovation and skill development.

Market Revitalization

The construction and remodeling of 12 cattle markets and several major trading centers have modernized traditional commerce and enhanced the environment for ease of doing business at these markets. The facilities provided at these remodelled markets have increased tax revenue for the government and improved hygiene and safety for the beneficiaries.

Boost in Local Agriculture

Improved rural roads have enhanced farm-to-market access, reducing post-harvest losses and increasing profits for farmers. The reintroduction of Agricultural extension services and irrigation efforts have increased crop yields and food security.

The construction of the Jimeta Modern Stadium was initiated nearly 26 years ago, but for decades, it remained an uncompleted vision, one filled with promise yet hindered by delay. Today, that vision is finally becoming a reality under the transformational leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru. His administration has not only revived the long-abandoned project but has also undertaken a bold initiative to expand, remodel, and modernize the facility beyond its original scope.

The stadium is now being equipped with world-class infrastructure and cutting-edge amenities designed to meet the highest international standards. These include those set by FIFA and the International Olympic Committee, positioning the Jimeta Modern Stadium as a premier destination for national and international sporting events.

This monumental effort reflects the government’s commitment to youth development, sports excellence, and infrastructural growth. More than just a sports venue, the stadium symbolizes progress, resilience, and a renewed hope for the people of Adamawa State and Nigeria as a whole.

In the last two years, Governor Fintiri’s focused investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and commerce have created a multiplying effect on Adamawa’s economy and social fabric. His administration has enhanced livelihoods, stimulated growth, and positioned the state as a development model in Nigeria’s Northeast.
