Fire destroys 14 classrooms, offices in Kano Tsangaya school

An afternoon fire has razed a Tsangaya model boarding primary school in Kiyawa village, Bagwai LGA of Kano State.

Reports indicate that the fire completely destroyed 14 classes, 12 offices, and 21 toilets in the school.

Speaking on the incident, the public relations officer of Kano State Fire Service, PFS Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, said Bichi fire station received an emergency call from one Alhaji Ghaddafi Sani Bagwai.

He said on arrival, the rescue team discovered that a building of 400 by 400ft, used as Tsangaya Model boarding primary school, was engulfed by fire.

Yusif said the fire started in the administrative block of the main building, after the solar system malfunctioned, and spread to other parts of the school.

The spokesman said no life was lost in the fire, as all the students were successfully evacuated.

He restated the agency’s resolve to protect the lives and properties of Kano residents.
