A midnight fire outbreak has destroyed a popular hotel and several shops in Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, leaving business owners counting their losses.

The fire, which reportedly broke out late Friday night, sparked panic among residents and traders in the bustling commercial town.

Although the cause of the incident had not been established as of the time of filing this report, eyewitnesses said the flames spread rapidly, destroying goods and property worth millions of naira.

When Daily Trust visited the scene, affected traders were seen assessing the damage, while sympathisers gathered to offer support to victims.

Some residents attributed the scale of the destruction to the presence of highly flammable materials stored in some of the affected shops.

One of the affected traders, identified simply as Star Boy, described the incident as devastating, saying many business owners had lost their means of livelihood.

“We were shocked when we heard people raising the alarm about the fire. Before help could arrive, many of the shops had already been engulfed by the flames,” he said.

Firefighters reportedly responded promptly and worked to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings and other business premises.

No casualties had been reported as of the time of filing this report.
