Fire has burnt down the private residence of the chairman of Kwali area council of the FCT, Danladi Chiya, at Lambata in the area.
City & Crime learnt that the fire incident, which occurred around 9:12 am on Friday, affected only the security room and the apartment of the younger sister to the wife of the chairman, Joy Abraham.
A neighbor, Ishaya Moses, who assisted in putting out the fire, said the incident was caused by generator.
He said the generator was put on to pump water but one of the cables suddenly sparked and caused the fire.

He said the security man who discovered the fire, rushed to alert the chairman’s wife who was inside her room preparing to go to church.
He said, “Before neighbours could come to assist, the fire had already taken over the security room and the apartment where the sister to the chairman’s wife stays.”
Moses said fire fighters could arrived, the fire had already burnt down part of the house, even as he said the council chairman, Chiya was not at home when the incident happened.
He said, “Though, one still has to thank God because no life was lost, no injury recorded in the inferno, except the security room and the apartment that were affected.”
It was gathered that some valuables at the apartment such cloths, electronics, shoes, hand set, among other items, were destroyed by the fire.
