Assets and cash worth millions of naira were destroyed in a late afternoon inferno that gutted a branch of First Bank at Ahiara junction in Mbaise, Imo State.
An eyewitness said that the fire started at a nearby petrol station.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Imo State, ASP Henry Okoye, who confirmed the incident, said no life was lost.
He said that firefighters from Owerri and people from the community assisted in putting out the inferno.

Okoye added that the investigation into the remote cause of the outbreak was ongoing.
