The spokesperson of the Kwara State First Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, who confirmed the incident on Tuesday, said firemen who were summoned to the scene by a distress call around 7pm battled the fire for over an hour.

Adekunle said, “We battled to put the fire out from causing further damage to the property and adjoining structures in the estate.”

He added that, “The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade Olumuyiwa, advises residents and property owners in the state to install and regularly maintain appropriate fire safety measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
