Fire kills 6 family members in Kano

An early morning fire outbreak on Saturday, claimed the lives of six family members including a new born baby in Hausawa quarters, Tarauni local government, Kano state.

Confirming the incident to Daily Trust, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Abdullahi, said the deceased include a father Isaiah Jonathan, his wife, their three children and a maid

Abdullahi said the incident was reported to the police around 3:30am and as at the time police arrived the scene, all the six members of the family were burnt beyond recognition.

He said a combined team of police and fire service personnel put out the fire.

The police spokesperson, however, said causes of the fire and the damage it caused could  not be ascertain as at the time of going to press.

It was gathered that the fire might have started from the sitting room, hence prevented the occupants of the house escaping.
