Nine classrooms at the Grace International School on Awolowo Street, beside Kobiowu Mosque, Tanke, Ilọrin South LGA of Kwara State have been destroyed by fire.
The incident, it was gathered, occurred around 6pm on Sunday and destroyed a part of a 14-room facility.
The spokesperson of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said, “When we arrived, tragically the fire had ravaged nine out of the 14 classrooms, leaving a significant portion of the school in ruins.”
He attributed the fire to an undergrowth fire “that was deliberately set by someone.”
He added that the Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade Olumuyiwa, urged the public to prioritise safety and be more careful in their day-to-day activities with fire and electrical appliances.
