A furniture company, Alibert Furniture, situated on Murtala Mohammed way in Kano metropolis, was razed on Monday morning.
According to an eyewitness, Bello Ya’u, the fire, which started in the early hours of Monday, destroyed virtually everything in the company.
He said it also affected neighbouring buildings.
“It started this morning as we were here trying to get something to eat. Suddenly, we saw people scampering for safety.”
“We all moved over to assist but due to the extent of the incident, we couldn’t do much to bring the fire under control until the arrival of the fire service officials who also tried very hard before having the fire quenched.”
While the cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained, it is believed to be a case of electrical fault and for the simple reason of the nature of most items in the company, the fire was hard to get under control.
Two of the security personnel in the company sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital, said the eye witness.
At the time of filing this report fire-fighters had put the situation under control.
